Varmam or Varma therapy is one of the unique therapies of Traditional Siddha Medicine. It can be safely applied by trained therapists or physicians to many chronic diseases, pain management, emergency conditions, etc. Its potential benefits are yet to be unearthed. More than 120 classical Varma Literature are available in Tamil palm manuscript forms.  India should be proud of the Varma therapy and promote it globally as a CAM therapy. There is an urgent need to train as many healthcare providers (physicians, AYUSH clinicians, physiotherapists, nursing, yoga therapist, and other health providers). Dr. Janakiraman, a cardiologist from the USA (Founder of Harvard Tamil Chair) visited Manipal and discussed the strategy to globalize Siddha Varma Therapy through Medical universities. He and his wife donated Rs.10 Lakhs to start a course at Manipal University. On behalf of Siddha and the Tamil Community, I express gratitude and thanks to his family. This was coordinated by Global Center for Siddha Medicine and Research (GCSMR), North Carolina. As a result, the first batch of the "Post Graduate Certificate course in Siddha Varmam Therapy" will be happening in 2023 itself. The first announcement has been made from Manipal University - https://manipal.edu/.../Post-Graduate-Certificate-course.... Last date for application is August 15 and classes will commence from October 2023.
