PURIFICATION OF SKULL BONE
Break the skull into pieces and soak them in a clear and filtered lime water and Pooneer for 24 hours, wash with cold water and dry.
PROCESS
1. Purified skull of man, dog, ox -Quantity to be Calcined 2. Ginger juice - Sufficient quantity Keep the purified pieces of man, dog, ox in a pot with Ass’s milk and calcine. Bones are converted to ashes. Grind the ashes with limejuice, makes cakes and calcined once. The calx should be cremy white powder finely. Dose:100-300mg with Ass’s milk and sugar twice daily before food

PURIFICATION OF CRAB FOSSIL
Dissolve equal quantities of lime stone and Pooneer in 8 times of fresh water, allow to remain for some time, and decant the clear supernatant liquid. In this solution, boil the broken pieces of crab fossil for 3 hours, wash with water and dry. PROCESS
1. Water of lime from lime stones-sufficient quantity 2. Solution of Pooneer -sufficient quantity 3. Aerva lanata juice - same 4 Radish juice -same
Boil pieces of 3 in a mixture of 1 & 2 for three hours .Wash the pieces and grind with 5 for three days. Make cakes, dry and calcine. Finely powder the calx which should be ashy cream in colour.
Dose: 200-400mg with tender coconut water, before food twice daily, as prescribed by the qualified siddha physician.
Drugs are purified in order to enhance their therapeutic action and nullify their toxic effect before making the medicine mentioned in siddha. Details of these processes for a few important drugs are described below.
