Dr.Ayyangannu MD(Siddha), Lecturer in ATSVS Siddha Medical College, Munchirai has completed the documentation on Siddha drug manufacturing techniques especially the suddhi (processing methods of raw materials before using for medicine). It took almost > 8 years, > 10 Lakhs money and a big team of siddha students/doctors involved to video record all the procedures from their college lab. It was first initiated by Dr.Stanly Paul, then executed by Dr.Sriram Jayaraj under the leadership of Dr.Ayyankannu. Dr.Ayyankanu almost spent all his salary only for this project. Many people donated money and extended other type of supports to make his dream true. Actually this video documentation is supposed to be included in the Syllabus of Gunapadam, made available in library of all Siddha Medical Colleges/Institution and should be taken for further research by researchers. Dr.Ayyankannu had not obtained any grant from AYUSH or any support from CCIM for this project. In this occasion, we should remember Dr.Kannusamy Pillai and TV Sampasivam Pillai for their uncompensated contributions to Siddha field as private persons. Their books are not in BSMS Syllabus as they were not a Government Siddha College teachers. Despite no salary or grant received for their contribution, today their documentations have a significant role for next generation Siddha learners. Sameway, Dr.Ayyankannu's documentation will be surely play a vital role in reviewing Sidda knowledge to next generation. He is eligible for Best Siddha Doctors award, that is given every year by Collector or CM or AYUSH Minister for Government Siddha doctors. He is eligible for huge grant from AYUSH to carry out further research. At this point of time, I expect He would be honored, awarded, acknowledged by Siddha community in the Conferences or Government functions. I hope CCRS/NIS/CCIM/AYUSH/ Siddha associations will felicitate him in the forthcoming Siddha Conferences with an award. This will encourage all non-government Siddha doctors (including him) to continue their contributions and motivate them to put their effort to Siddha growth. He is having another vision to document psychology and psychiatry concepts of Siddha Medicine and he has started that work too.
