Beverage in Siddha

12 Days to 7th Siddha Day
Beverages in Siddha Medicine

Unlock the wisdom of Siddha beverages, connecting ancient practices with modern solutions:

Beverages play a vital role in breaking down and digesting food, converting it into nourishing body fluids while providing mental satisfaction. Just as hunger signals the need for food, thirst signals the need for beverages.

Water is the base constituent of almost all beverages. Boiled and cooled water is ideal for drinking. Drinking water before meals can reduce appetite, while consuming it after meals aids digestion.

The choice between hot and cold water depends on the food type. Cold water complements grain-based foods, wheat, curd, and honey. Hot water is best for flour-based foods. Buttermilk and curd pair well with cereals and greens, while milk rejuvenates those tired from illnesses, travel, exertion or sun exposure.

Siddha texts recommend 'Sura' for the weak and honey-water for the obese. Those with tuberculosis may benefit from mutton soup. Ancient wisdom guides modern beverage choices!
